Pretreatment of Switchgrass for Production of Glucose via Sulfonic Acid-Impregnated Activated Carbon

چکیده

In the present research, activated carbon-supported sulfonic acid catalysts were synthesized and tested as pretreatment agents for conversion of switchgrass into glucose. The by reacting sulfuric acid, methanesulfonic p-toluenesulfonic with carbon. characterization suggested an increase in surface acidities, while area pore volumes decreased because sulfonation. Batch experiments performed 125 mL serum bottles to investigate effects temperature (30, 60, 90 °C), reaction time (90 120 min) on yields Enzymatic hydrolysis pretreated using Ctec2 yielded up 57.13% Durability tests indicated that solid-impregnated carbon able maintain activity even after three cycles. From results obtained, solid appear serve effective can potentially reduce use conventional liquid acids bases biomass-into-biofuel production.

Supercritical carbon dioxide pretreatment of corn stover and switchgrass for lignocellulosic ethanol production.

Supercritical CO(2) (SC-CO(2)), a green solvent suitable for a mobile lignocellulosic biomass processor, was used to pretreat corn stover and switchgrass at various temperatures and pressures. The CO(2) pressure was released as quickly as possible by opening a quick release valve during the pretreatment. The biomass was hydrolyzed after pretreatment using cellulase combined with β-glucosidase. ...

Lime pretreatment of switchgrass at mild temperatures for ethanol production.

To improve the enzymatic digestibility of switchgrass at mild temperatures, lime pretreatment of switchgrass was explored at 50 and 21 degrees Celsius, and compared with that at 121 degrees Celsius. The effects of residence time, lime loading, and biomass washing on the sugar production efficiency were investigated. Pretreatments were evaluated based on the yields of biomass-derived sugars in t...
